JOHNSONS SEEDS GO BACK TO BLACK FOR 2019 WITH EXCLUSIVE VIOLA
New for next season, Johnsons has introduced exclusive Viola Back to Black (RRP £2.35 for 100 seeds). Mini flowered and on small, neat plants the petals are truly jet-black and beautifully contrasted with a bright yellow eye. Flowering over an extremely long season, they are perfect for all baskets, patio containers and dramatic bedding displays.
Supporting Fleuroselect’s Year of the Nasturtium, Johnsons has also added Nasturtium Red Troika (RRP £2.35 for 25 seeds) to the range. A deep red variety with semi-trailing variegated foliage, perfect for mixed containers and summer borders.
Other highlights include lightly fragrant Brachcome Blue Star (RRP £1.85 for 200 seeds). A half hardy annual selected for its pretty star shaped flowers, they are a perfect addition to a sunny border or mixed container. Cornflower Classic Magic (RRP £2.35 for 200 seeds) is a highly unusual, harmonious blend of colours which make an ideal filler for a border or as a cut flower. For summer long displays, Silene Blue Angel (RRP £1.85 for 1,000 seeds) provides eye-catching electric blue flowers.
RHS AGM winner Carrot Malbec F1 (RRP £3.05 for 300 seeds) heads up the new varieties added to the Johnsons vegetable range. With vibrant red roots and exceptional flavour, it’s one of the very best red carrots available. Helen Clayton, Johnsons Brand Manager comments “This was a real flavour hit on our trials last year. A really delicious variety, especially when roasted.” This new introduction also supports Fleuroselect’s other campaign - Year of the Carrot.
Two F1 additions complete the new line up - Celery Hadrian F1 (RRP £2.35 for 200 seeds) is bred in the UK and selected for flavour. With vibrant green stems, it also shows good disease resistance. Tomato Super Mama F1 (£2.35 for 10 seeds) is a full flavoured plum x beef tomato cross with a rich flavour. A large ‘Roma’ tomato, it is high yielding and fleshy, with fewer seeds, perfect in pasta, soups and salsas.
